Description of Accident
On 07/13/2024, during takeoff, the aircraft’s left skid clipped an obstacle causing the skid to be torn off. After the skid was torn off, the pilot tried to land the aircraft using an embankment to keep the aircraft upright. During the landing attempt, the aircraft rolled over onto its side resulting in damage to the aircraft.
Description of Damages
The damage includes but may not be limited to:
- MR strike (5 blades)
- TR strike (2 blades)
- LH skid (destroyed)
- RH skid (dented in multiple places)
- LH side of heli (buckling throughout)
- LH side glass (cracked/scraped/gouged)
- Belly of heli (punctured & buckled)
- Horizontal stabilizer (LH side made contact with ground; skin rippling throughout)
- Vertical stabilizer (bent to the right when horizontal stabilizer made contact with ground)
- Tail boom (oil canned at fuselage attach point)
