Description of Accident
On 03/16/24, N469GB suffered catastrophic engine failure in flight. The pilot activated the ballistic recovery system and the aircraft floated to rest in a large field of timber pines approximately 35 feet in height. The aircraft was recovered and taken to Griffin, Georgia.
Description of Damages
The damage includes but may not be limited to:
· Catastrophic engine failure
· Both flaps
· Potentially the flap attach points on the wing
· Landing gear
· All three wheel covers
· Nose landing gear strut
· Rudder
· Propeller spinner
· Propeller
· Cowling
· Lower nose bowl
· Paint damage throughout
· Parachute requires repack
